Promoting the Inclusion of Young Peacebuilders and the Implementation of the YPS agenda

Youth, Peace and Security Working Group In cooperation with the United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY), this working group unites Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) experts from across our global networks. Since 2018, our YPS experts have been sharing their extensive experiences and working together to promote the inclusion of young peacebuilders and the implementation of the YPS agenda, in particular UNSCR2250, UNSCR2419 and UNSCR 2535.

Despite the fact that youth generally bear the major brunt of conflict, they are often still not included in the solution. Young peacebuilders remain excluded in key peace process and left out of important policy spaces, even though the United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted, on 9 December 2015, a ground-breaking resolution on Youth, Peace and Security. This specific resolution recognizes that:

young people play an important and positive role in the maintenance and promotion of international peace and security

Young peacebuilders are already at the forefronts advocating for sustaining peace. Now it is time to provide them with a seat at the table!
