Victoria Seeck
As GPPAC’s Climate-Sensitive Peacebuilding Policy Officer, Victoria applies her expertise in how peace, security and the natural environment interact. Growing up in Brussels, Beijing and Cairo, Victoria has an international background that has shaped her interest in interdisciplinary and transboundary issues, taking her around the world in the process.
Pursuing two Master’s degrees, in Conflict Studies and Environment, Victoria has professional experience at the local, national and global levels in policy development, stakeholder engagement and outreach. She has worked on diverse climate and security programs, including nature-based solutions for ocean conservation, environmental crime, illegal networks and circular economy.
Beyond being seen as a resource to be extracted, the natural environment is also an arena for conflict or peace. It acts as the base for shared experiences and collaboration, which, if championed, can help build lasting peace. As our climate changes, this link is becoming increasingly clear and critical for conflict prevention.
Why I work at GPPAC…
Victoria is excited to contribute to the organisation's vision: a shift in dealing with violent conflict from reaction to prevention. She believes that climate sensitivity plays a pivotal role in promoting and sustaining peace, and is looking forward to learning from GPPAC’s members how this looks in practice.
