Human security refers to the security of the individual as opposed to the security of states. When individuals and communities are put at the centre of analysis, there are implications for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of security and peacebuilding initiatives. The human security approach is not only centred on people as objects of interventions, but also as providers of security in their own right.
The Gender Programme supports GPPAC regions and programmes in integrating gender-sensitive peacebuilding perspectives into their work and contributes a conflict prevention perspective to global advocacy efforts on women peace and security issues.
Since 2006, GPPAC members from all corners of the world have been working together to exchange information, skills, and strategies, on how best to engage and collaborate with key stakeholders in their education systems.
Dialogue & Mediation is at the core of GPPAC activities. Our members employ Dialogue & Mediation to prevent conflicts from escalating into violence. Dialogue is also used to decrease tensions and hostilities during the crisis.
In all projects GPPAC includes a plan for Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation (PME) and Learning that is based on "Outcome Harvesting"
Through our engagement with the SDGs, GPPAC aims to strengthen the role of local civil society in fostering conflict prevention and peacebuilding by ensuring a truly inclusive multi-stakeholder approach based on local ownership is realised in the SDG implementation across the globe.
