Radio for Peace International

Radio for Peace International broadcasts globally via short-wave and Internet and is located in El Rodeo, Costa Rica. It started broadcasting in 1987 and since then has provided a forum for democratic communications and a critical focus on transnational politics. It aims to do this by broadcasting programmes that stress human rights, raise global awareness, promote tolerance and inform isolated populations. Further, it strives to be a centre of excellence in specialist independent journalism and has trained over 300 journalists through RFPI’s Institute for Progressive Communications. This training institute runs courses in Peace Journalism and Progressive Media Through Radio several times a year.
