Global
Media Action International
Media
Action International is an international NGO, which aims to promote the more
effective use of the media to help local populations in crises. MAI’s ultimate
aim is to offer benchmark standards in the use of needs-based media through
media programmes, publications, videos and their web site. They manage field-based
media projects in conflict areas and organise workshops, seminars and conferences
on journalism, conflict and peacebuilding. MAI aims to bridge the gap between
journalism and humanitarian, post-conflict and development activities and
works from this position to develop strategies to make the best use of the
mass media. It also seeks to strengthen the role of credible information in
humanitarian, peacekeeping, civil society-building, human rights, environment
and development initiatives.
