International Federation of Journalists
The International Federation of Journalists
was first established in 1926 and was re-launched in its present form in 1952.
Today the Federation represents around 500,000 journalists in more than 100
countries. The IFJ promotes human rights, democracy and pluralism, and condemns
the use of media for propaganda or to promote intolerance and conflict. The
Federation defends all journalists’ rights and promotes a genuine independent
press and independent journalist trade unions. The IFJ represents journalists
within the United Nations system and within the international trade union
movement.
