Institute for Media and Society

The Institute for Media and Society (IMS) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation based in Nigeria. The IMS facilitates the expansion process of media and communication resources to marginalised sections of the country. It builds the communication capacity of the media, civil society and governance institutions to facilitate popular participation in democracy and development in Nigeria. The institute’s mandate is to build the capacity of the media to become an informed, innovative, competitive, critical, plural and knowledge-creating institution, which effectively performs its roles in democracy and development and provides an appropriate interface for civil society and governance.
