Action
Agenda
One of the
key aims of the Dublin conference is to develop a Western European Action
Agenda on Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding, a set of principles on
conflict prevention and peacebuilding and recommendations for action to the EU,
its member states, and the UN, which will be discussed at the Conference, and
presented to a High Level Panel at the end of the conference to support its
further dissemination. After the conference, the Western European Action Agenda
should find its way to Brussels and will serve as input for the International
Action Agenda to be presented at the UN Headquarters in New York, mid 2005,
during the three day Civil Society Conference.
The Western
European Action Agenda on Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding will be backed
by a substantial policy document (Policy Background). While the Action
Agenda primarily serves as a lobby document, the Policy Background provides for
specific policy recommendations.
Any
comments on these documents by March 22 are welcome (g.bierbrauwer@conflict-prevention.net). After
your comments are received, a new version will be drafted that will be
discussed and distributed at the conference itself.
