Human security refers to the security of the individual as opposed to the security of states. When individuals and communities are put at the centre of analysis, there are implications for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of security and peacebuilding initiatives. The human security approach is not only centred on people as objects of interventions, but also as providers of security in their own right.
